Knockhill BSB: Farmer ploughs through to Stock 1000 win

Tyco BMW ace Keith Farmer took his second victory of the year, beating championship leader Billy McConnell to the first Pirelli National Superstock 1000 win of the weekend.

The former champion and reigning British Supersport king came through from a less-than-perfect start to cross the line over five seconds clear of his closest title rival, as he now moves into second in the standings.

Farmer had lined up on pole, but dropped to fifth off the start as EHA Racing’s Andy Reid led McConnell away from the line, with Josh Elliot and Ducati-mounted local hero Lewis Rollo just behind.

But the Aussie soon levered Reid aside at the hairpin to take over at the front, while Farmer found his way through OMG Racing Suzuki’s Elliot and Highsparks Motorsport rider Rollo to put hiself in third just a few laps in.

Moments later, former Stock 1000 champ Farmer cut his way past fellow countryman Reid and began hunting down Buildbase Suzuki’s McConnell.

The Northern Irishman found a way through on lap eight and never looked back, extending a 5.065s advantage over former Supersport champ McConnell at the chequered flag, while Joe Collier snatched the final podium position.
