Knockhill BSB: Gilbert battles to his first Stock 600 win

Mission Racing’s Jordan Gilbert took his first ever Pirelli National Superstock 600 win after a close contest with BWSR Kawasaki’s George Stanley.

The leading duo broke clear of the pack after a scrappy opening couple of laps and Gilbert was out front for the all of the race, with Stanley appearing to be sat comfortably behind him.

However, Stanley crashed out in the closing stages of the race allowing Gilbert to ease to the chequered flag over eight seconds clear of second place.

After Appleyard Macadam’s Brad Jones crashed out of third place, the final podium places were fought out between Tim Neave, Scotsman Ryan Watson and championship leader Dan Stamper.

As the trio crossed the line, it was Neave who took second place and, to the joy of the crowd in attendance, Brechin’s Ryan Watson clinched the final podium place. This completed a top three of debutant podium finishers.

Championship leader Stamper had to settle for fourth, bringing to an end his one hundred percent record of podium finishes, however, he still managed to extend his title advantage out from 32 points to 37 points.

Irishman Kevin Keyes came through from fifteenth on the grid to his best ever finish of fifth place, coming across the line ahead of Milo Ward and Australian Arthur Sissis.

Rounding out the top ten were Tom Oliver, Robert Kennedy and Alex Baker.
