Sandown Kawasaki’s Carl Phillips battled his way to a second Pirelli National Superstock 600 of the year, with a red flag at two thirds distance cutting short what was sure to be a brilliant battle.
Hometown hero Lewis Rollo held the lead for the majority of the race but with the rain starting to fall, Northern Irishman dived past on the run into the Hairpin and before Rollo had chance to respond, the rainfall worsened and the red flag was brought out.
Leaving Knockhill, Phillips’ championship lead now sits at a comfortable 38 points, ahead of CPE Motorsport’s Brad Jones.
Moto-Breakers Kawasaki’s Keenan Armstrong was also well involved in the battle for the win, held on to claim his debut podium despite constant pressure from Brad Jones, who came through in fourth.
After crashing on the start line at Donington Park, Sam Thompson will be pleased with his fifth place. Mancunian Tom Carne edged out South African Jordan Weaving to seventh place.
Rounding out the top ten were Nick Anderson, Aero Legends Yamaha’s Tom Ward and local lad Korie McGreevy.
