Knockhill BSB: Reid battles to Superstock 600 win

FFX Yamaha’s Andy Reid fought off late pressure from local favourite Tarran Mackenzie to clinch his third Pirelli National Superstock 600 victory of the year.

Reid got the holeshot from pole position and edged out two seconds over Mackenzie in second. WD40 Kawasaki’s Mackenzie came under continued pressure from Joe Collier but he was able to fight off the Be Wiser Kawasaki rider and chase down Reid to set up a fight for the win.

Reid ran wide at the Hairpin allowing Mackeznie to close on to the back wheel with two laps remaining. However, the Northern Irishman dug in and held on to claim victory by just over half a second. Mackenzie held on to take second place, his first four stroke podium since moving up from the Motostar class.

Joe Collier held on to third place ahead of the youngest ever British Champion, Kyle Ryde. CF Motorsport’s Ryde was pushed hard by Andrew Irwin, with the pair coming together on numerous occasions, but Ryde claimed fourth ahead of the Belfast rider.

Moto-Breakers Kawasaki’s James Lodge could only manage sixth place, meaning Reid extended his championship lead out to 37 points. Australian Levi Day clinched seventh place ahead of Be Wiser Kawasaki’s Nick Anderson and fellow Aussie Ben Currie. Rounding out the top ten was Dutchman Kevin Van Leuven
