Knockhill BSB: Seventh Supersport win in a row as Kennedy beats Currie

Jack Kennedy once again fended off Ben Currie in the closing moments of this afternoon’s sprint race.to take his seventh Dickies British Supersport championship win.

After a race-long scrap with his closest contender, the Irishman made a late move and held off the Gearlink Kawasaki ace to take victory with a new lap record in hand.

Currie had the best start, leading Kennedy away from the line for the first of 18 laps as the pair immediately began stretching a gap over the chasing pack.

And while the Integro Yamaha rider never lost touch, he couldn’t quite find a way past, even with backmarker traffic - which played into Currie’s hands as the two scythed their way through slower riders with a few laps remaining.

With three to go, Kennedy finally laid a pass on Currie at Clarke’s, but the Aussie was straight back in front at the hairpin before the two did the exact same dance on the next lap.

But on the final lap, Kennedy made a decisive move and didn’t allow Currie any space to strike again as the Irishman clinched yet another victory.

Back in the battle for third, EHA Racing’s David Allingham had slotted into the final podium position after deposing amateur boxer James Westmoreland early on, but Westy hit back with a pass that gave him the rostrum spot, holding off Allingham and Everquip Racing’s James Rispoli by just a few tenths.
