Law takes positives from up and down Superstock 1000 season

Mason Law is taking the positives from his debut season in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship with the Stauff Connect Academy Kawasaki team, having secured sixth place overall – despite a nasty crash during Sunday’s final race of the season at Brands Hatch.

The 21-year-old has fully enjoyed his year with the GR Motosport squad, who run the Stauff backed team, and despite a number of little set-backs, a win at Oulton Park at round three was not the only highlight, as he proved his obvious talent on 1000cc machinery with a number of top results.
“The season was very enjoyable and I can certainly say I’ve learned a lot. The win at Oulton, as you would expect, was the highlight, but we also had strong performances at Knockhill, Snetterton and Cadwell Park, where we were off the podium, on it, then off it again,” he joked.
“Ironically, my local circuit at Brands Hatch, has been the one track where we didn’t return any results this season. To lose four points’ scoring opportunities potentially cost us a top four championship position, but that’s racing and a learning experience going forward.

“It’s just a shame the way the season ended, as I didn’t want to close out 2017 in that way. The team did a good job as always, and we had pulled ourselves out of a bit of a rough patch that I had been having, so the punishment maybe didn’t fit the crime.
“Regardless, big thanks to GR Motosport for a fabulous season; team sponsors Stauff, Connect Academy and my mechanics for a good year. We came into the final weekend fifth in the championship standings and ended the year sixth, which is a bit disappointing, but it’s not such a bad effort for my first year in the National 1000cc Superstock class. I’m very motivated to come back next year and go for the championship.

"Thanks also to Premier Helmets, RST/MotoDirect and Sidi Sport for keeping me safe in those unfortunate incidents this season."
