Fresh from Spanish Supersport podiums, former GP2 Champion Mason Law heads to Brands Hatch to partner Rhys Irwin at Astro JJR Triumph.
With Shane Richardson still sidelined due to pre-season injuries and Josh Day in recovery from his Donington accident, Law was the natural choice for replacement rider as the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship heads to Brands Hatch this weekend, with his recent exploits leaving him well acclimatised to riding in the heat!
“I’m excited to get back on a Triumph and be involved with something that has the potential to win,” Law confirmed. "I know the team is well driven and I really enjoy the challenge of development so hope I can help them as they work towards their goals this season. I can’t wait to get on the bike on Friday.”
“With Shane and Josh both still out we needed a rider to help move our project along its development pathway and are fortunate to have someone with Mason’s experience,” team boss Stuart Tromans explained. “Building on our best race yet at Knockhill despite uniquely challenging circumstances, this is another strong step forwards for the team.”
Top three placings in both practice sessions at the Scottish track were curtailed when Irwin crashed in the final session, badly breaking his foot with qualifying and two races still to go.
“Qualifying with two broken bones in my foot was hard,” Irwin admitted, “but P7 was great and we followed it up with a pair of sixth places in the races. I was in a lot of pain but am feeling good now and can’t wait to get back on it at Brands.”
