Nesbitt and Seeley team up in Quattro ABM GP2 challenge

Quattro ABM Racing have announced that Alastair Seeley and Charlie Nesbitt have signed to contest the 2020 British GP2 Championship.

After a successful 2019 in the series, where Quattro Team ABM Racing scored four victories and 10 podiums on their way to finishing second in the series, the team are now firmly setting their sights on taking the 2020 crown.

Seeley returns to the team after two seasons away with the task of taking the title, the Northern Irishman has previous experience with the ABM chassis after impressing during its debut season in 2017, taking a handful of victories against full blooded Supersport machines.

Lining up alongside the ‘Wee Wizard’ will be former British Motostar champion and hot prospect Charlie Nesbitt, after impressing in his first full year in the Supersport 600 division.

ABM will also field Harry Rowlings on the all new ABM GP2 Evo machine which is based on the production 675R Daytona.

The ABM machines are now in their third year of development and were the catalyst for the creation of the BSB GP2 series, a sub-category within the prestigious British Supersport Championship. The GP2 class is a designed to be a steppingstone into the Moto2 World Championship.

As with all GP2s, the ABM models will run a completely stock engine housed inside a specially constructed frame that was designed and built at the company’s HQ near Brands Hatch in Kent. The ABM Generation 2 machines feature a number of cutting-edge innovations including a flex adjustable chassis to give the riders infinite set-up opportunities.

ABM owner Tony Scott said: “A big thank you has to go to Quattro Plant for supporting this project and for their initiative in the development of future talent and machinery.

“We are all very proud to see the GP2 series growing in stature year on year and it would be nice for us to lift the title in the Championship we helped develop.

“For 2020 Alastair will be developing the Gen 2 chassis and swing arm whilst Charlie will be riding the Gen 1 bike which needs only to be tweaked to his preferences. We are also very pleased to be introducing our GP2 EVO bike.

“Designed to give a far more affordable entry level bike into GP2, this bike can be upgraded as funds allow until you have a full GP2 bike. We suspect many will be surprised by the speed and agility of the EVO bike which still uses the stock chassis but with some very important modifications.”
