Alex Olsen will return for a second consecutive season with FHO Racing BMW to fight for the Pirelli National Superstock Championship in 2022.
Overcoming a career-threatening injury - suffered during Superbike qualifying at Silverstone in 2020 - Olsen has repeatedly battled for honours this season after joining the FHO Racing BMW team aboard the all-new BMW M 1000 RR. The 29-year-old is still mathematically in championship contention, 23 points down on title leader Tom Neave, ahead of today’s deciding race at Brands Hatch. Olsen has secured four wins and two further podiums so far in 2021 and plans to carry the momentum into 2022 with FHO.
“I am really glad to get the deal done coming into the last round as you are ready for a good winter ahead of the new season,” Olsen said on the announcement. I am already working on hitting the ground run next year and consistency is so important. “It is always nice to go into this final weekend knowing we can still win, but we know we had to build up during the year, so it will be nice to go into 2022 fully fit and have a good go at it straight away.”
“I have been really impressed with how Alex has approached this season,” Team owner
Faye Ho added. “He was so determined to come back and return to the form he knows he is capable of, and to have achieved wins and podiums to be in title contention in our first year has been fantastic. We are looking forward to building on this season and coming back even stronger in 2022.”
