Reigning champion Josh Elliott powered in his first victory of the campaign in a dramatic ending to the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship as Ian Hutchinson and Taylor Mackenzie went down at Lodge on the final corner of the race as they duelled for the lead. Local hero Adam Jenkinson took second ahead of Keith Farmer.
Mackenzie was quickly away from pole with Elliott soon taking over in second place from Farmer with Hutchinson strong in fourth from Jenkinson and Rutter on a first lap during which Fraser Rogers tipped off.
Elliott was on the charge and nosed ahead of Mackenzie with Hutchinson taking Farmer early on the second lap and soon the Isle of Man TT hero was attacking Mackenzie and taking over in second place after three hard fought laps. Farmer was back in fourth, only a third of a second ahead of Adam Jenkinson with Michael Rutter solid in sixth.
Hutchinson was pressurising his Tyco BMW team-mate Elliott at the sharp-end of the pack though Mackenzie was giving little away despite the close attentions of Jenkinson who had eased ahead of Farmer.
Mackenzie traded places with Hutchinson a couple of times with the young Scot making it stick, though there was little more than a tenth of a second between them while out front Elliott was being caught. Mackenzie took almost half a second out of Elliott on the eighth lap as the scrap for supremacy continued.
Hutchinson was well in contention, briefly taking second from Mackenzie, but then being re-taken, though not for long before the Bingley bullet had charged ahead and then at Lodge with three laps remaining had taken the lead from Elliott.
The leading five riders were separate by less than a second in this frantic affair with Mackenzie taking second from Elliott with a couple of laps remaining and then closing within 0.192secs of race leader Hutchinson going into the final lap.
Then high drama at Lodge as Mackenzie tried to take the lead riding around the outside of Hutchinson only for them both to go down leaving the title stakes as you were, Mackenzie leading Hutchinson by 23 points.
Elliott went through to take the victory ahead of Jenkinson, Farmer and Rutter.
