Oulton BSB: Five-star Mackenzie wins again in Supersport

McAMS Yamaha’s Tarran Mackenzie battled through to his fifth Dickies British Supersport win of the year, maintaining his unbeaten start to the season.

Starting from row two, Mackenzie was forced to work hard for this one though, sitting in sixth at the end of lap one.

Eventually getting onto the back of the leading duo, poleman Keith Farmer and Gearlink’s Andrew Irwin, the Scotsman race winning move came at the first corner, Old Hall, as he dived under the inside of the both Northern Irishmen.

Farmer was then passed by Allingham for third place before the EHA Yamaha man squeezed Appleyard Macadam’s rider into running on at the Hizzy Chicane.

This left three at the front but the pace of Mackenzie meant he always had a couple of bike lengths breathing space despite Irwin’s best efforts to get past him.

With a lap to go, the leading trio all raised their hands indicating falling rain and the red flag was brought out, securing Mackenzie’s win, Irwin in second and Allingham taking the final podium spot.

Farmer battled back through from seventh to take fourth place, ahead of Jack Kennedy on his MV Agusta and Ben Currie on his Gearlink Kawasaki.

Halsall Racing’s Joe Francis drifted backwards from the front row to take seventh place, with Ross Twyman recovering from eleventh on the first lap to take the chequered flag in eighth.

Rounding out the top ten were birthday boy Jamie Perrin ad Keenan Armstrong.
