Smiths Triumph’s Graeme Gowland edged to within three tenths of the Motorpoint British Supersport lap record in this afternoon’s free practice session. The Northumberland rider posted a lap of 1’37.887, which was half a second quicker than teammate, Billy McConnell, in second.
Profile Triumph’s Luke Stapleford ended the session third quickest, less than a tenth quicker than his teammate Luke Mossey in fourth. Mar-Train Yamaha’s Alistair Seeley was over a second adrift of the pace setter, back in fifth place. The Northern Irishman is four points adrift of Gowland at the top of the championship.
Appleyard Macadam’s Jake Dixon came through sixth quickest but his fellow Appleyard Yamaha rider, Bjorn Estment, looks to have suffered a collarbone injury as a result of a crash at Shell Hairpin. Acumen Industrial Services Triumph’s Luke Jones was 1.1 seconds adrift of Gowland in seventh, having set a lap time of 1’39.068.
Gearlink Kawasaki’s Glenn Irwin finished eight quickest, just ahead of Sam Hornsey and Luke Hedger, who round out a top ten covered by 2.248 seconds.
