Oulton BSB: Nesbitt puts one hand on Motostar title

Charlie Nesbitt continued his relentless charge to the HEL Performance British Motostar crown s he powered in his ninth consecutive victory in a dominant campaign to go 140 points clear of Jake Archer who finished the race in fifth place. Josh Owens pressed Nesbitt hard, trading places on the final lap, with Danny Saez third as Ed Rendell crashed late on.

Nesbitt made the perfect get-away from his customary pole start but Saez was in hot pursuit and took the lead at Lodge on the opening lap, just 0.070secs between them as they crossed the line with Rendell, Archer and Owens in hot pursuit.

Rendell pulled off a stunning more to go from third to first with Nesbitt going second at the expense of Saez but then it was all change as they completed the third lap with Nesbitt leading from Saez, Rendell, Owens and Archer while Tom Booth-Amos moved sixth.

Saez overshot at Hizzy’s rejoining in seventh and that gave Nesbitt a bit of breathing space, running 0.883secs ahead of Rendell with Owens up to third from Archer, but then Owens found something extra to nose into second place. Booth-Amos was fourth ahead of Saez and Ed Best.

Owens was charging on, taking Rendell and then the lead from Nesbitt, though not for long. Booth-Amos was running third, only to slide out at the chicane. At two third distance Nesbitt had a lead of 0.344secs over Owens with Rendell third from Saez, Best and Archer.

Nesbitt was inching further ahead from Owens while Saez attacked Rendell for third place but then on the final lap Owens nosed into the lead, testing Nesbitt to the full and the series leader bit back, regaining the lead and then holding off a charge at Lodge to take the victory by 0.273secs.

Rendell crashed at Druids as Saez came through in third place ahead of Best and Archer, while victory in the Standard class went to Mark Clayton ahead of Dan Jones.
