FFX Yamaha’s Andy Reid eased to his first Pirelli Superstock 600 win in dominant fashion, holding off early pressure from fellow countryman Andrew Irwin to clinch victory.
The tattoo-artist came through from the second row of the grid to challenge for the lead early on in the race. MWR Kawasaki’s Andrew Irwin took the lead for a short while only for Reid to emphatically ride around the outside of his compatriot to take the lead. Irwin’s race didn’t last much longer, as the Ulsterman crashed out at Island Bend as the back end of his Kawasaki stepped out.
Reid continued on to take the victory by just under five seconds, his first-ever visit to the podium in the Superstock 600 championship.
Be Wiser Kawasaki’s Joe Collier held on to second place, his second consecutive podium finish after collecting third place at Brands Hatch. The battle for third went down the wire between James Lodge and Kyle Ryde. Lodge held the initiative on the run in the final corner and despite Ryde trying to find a way through, the Brands Hatch race winner held of the youngest ever British champion by under a tenth of a second.
Moto-Breakers Kawasaki’s Lodge holds on the championship lead after two podium finishes, three points ahead of the race winner, Reid.
Lodge’s teammate Ben Currie came through to clinch fifth place, narrowly getting the better of Nick Anderson on the Be Wiser Kawasaki. Superstock 600 rookie Charlie King finished in seventh place on his Haribo sponsored Triumph, ahead of Jamie Perrin and Jordan Gilbert. Rounding out the top ten is WD40 Kawasaki’s Tarran Mackenzie.
