Oulton BSB: Seeley takes last-lap Supersport pole

Mar-Train Yamaha’s Alastair Seeley stormed to his first Motorpoint British Supersport pole of the year after a last gasp lap. The Ulsterman posted a 1’37.838 lap, going underneath the Supersport lap record.

Smiths Triumph’s Graeme Gowland and Billy McConnell complete the front row, which is covered by just five hundredths of a second. Gowland missed the first half of the session due to technical issues but the Allendale rider was able to get back out and take provisional pole with the chequered flag out.

However, teammate McConnell jumped to the top of the time sheets only for Seeley to come through to seal pole moments later.

Profile Triumph’s Luke Stapleford will head the second row of the grid, two tenths shy of pole position. Teccare Triumph’s Luke Mossey was able to claim fifth place despite continuing to struggle with a shoulder injury that put him out of the opening two races of the season a fortnight ago at Brands Hatch.

Rounding out the second row of the grid is Anvil Hire TAG Triumph’s Sam Hornsey, his best-ever qualifying result.

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Glenn Irwin was unable to replicate his pole position at Brands Hatch but he will be hoping to replicate the race victory later on this afternoon. The Northern Irishman will line up for the sprint race ahead of Appleyard Macadam’s Jake Dixon and Acumen Industrial Service’s Luke Jones.
