Redline KTM’s Joe Irving had to fight off Fab-Racing’s Bradley Ray in a battle that went to the bitter end in the Motul Motostar championship at Snetterton. In the end the Moto3 bike of Irving had the edge to power on through for a tight win that was decided at the finishing line.
On the first lap it was Ray who took the holeshot only for Irving to close the gap to take the lead. Six laps later Ray re-took first and the lead changed constantly between the duelling pair.
There were a few crashes out on the 300 circuit, and all the action happened from the first lap. Kinpac Racing’s Kai Johnson and RCD’s Josh Owens crashed at Montreal, with the number 65 rider having to make a trip to the medical centre. Welshman Joseph Thomas had a technical problem and retired to the pits.
RS Racing’s Georgina Polden was having a solid race, but fell at Nelson and was also taken to the medical centre for a check up. Elsewhere Jordan Racing’s Jordan Weaving was closing the gap for third on Ernst Dubbink and on the last three corners from the end of the race secured his overall third place finish.
Irving takes the overall spoils, as well as the Moto3 win. Ray is crowned the 125 victor, with Rendell and Taylor completing the 125 rostrum. Meanwhile the Moto3 podium was rounded off by Weaving and Dubbink.
