Paceday Trackday’s Kyle Ryde stormed to his first Pirelli National Superstock 600 victory in emphatic style, passing championship leader Andy Reid on the last lap.
Ryde took the holeshot from pole position and was quickly joined at the front by the winner of the past two races, FFX Yamaha’s Andy Reid. The duo pulled out five seconds over Mason Law in third and began battling for the win.
Reid took the lead at half race distance and looked to pull away from Ryde, opening out an advantage of half a second but Ryde responded with a lap record. The duo were back together once again and Ryde reclaimed the lead as Reid ran wide at Agostini corner.
Tattoo-artist, Reid, quickly retook the lead as he slipstreamed his way past the youngest ever British champion with four laps remaining. As the duo went on to the last lap, Reid held on to the lead but he couldn’t hold on to take his third win on the bounce as Ryde muscled his way through at the end of the back straight.
The youngster fought off pressure from Reid to clinch his first victory in the Superstock 600 class by two tenths of a second. James Lodge crashed out of fourth place during the race, allowing Reid to extend his championship lead from 2 points to 22 points. Mason Law claimed his first podium of the year after a lonely 12 lap race.
Aleix Aulestia eventually took fourth after Andrew Reid and James Lodge crashed out of contention during the race. Tsingtao Kawasaki’s Ben Godfrey got the better of the Be Wiser Kawasaki duo of Nick Anderson and Joe Collier to take fifth. Australian Levi Day, Dutchman Kevin Van Leuven and Ben Currie rounded out the top ten.
