Profile Triumph’s Luke Stapleford put in the fastest ever Motorpoint British Supersport lap on his way to bagging pole position, half a second clear of his teammate Sam Hornsey.
The championship leader lapped a tenth outside of Stuart Easton’s previous outright lap record with one of his opening laps, but then with five minutes remaining, he set the first ever sub 1’16 lap with a 1’15.909.
This lap would’ve put him 18th in British Superbike free practice, ahead of Kiyonari, Bridewell and Laverty, and just 0.2 behind Byrne and the top ten.
Sam Hornsey followed his teammate round and as a result picked up his best qualifying of the year in second place, with Traction Control’s Andy Reid rounding out the front row.
CF Motorsport’s Kyle Ryde will front the second row of the grid for this afternoon’s sprint race, ahead of James Rispoli. The Yank was 0.903 adrift of the pace setter.
Gearlink Kawasaki’s Luke Hedger rounds out the second row of the grid after jumping ahead of his teammate, Glenn Irwin, in the closing stages.
Smiths Triumph’s Jake Dixon is eighth on the grid, 0.029 of a second clear of Appleyard Macadam’s Danny Webb.
