Highly-rated teenager Casey O’Gorman will make his debut in the British Supersport Championship after joining forces with defending BSB champions OMG Racing for this weekend’s Cadwell Park round.

The 16-year old has emerged as one of motorcycle racing’s top tips for the future following success on the junior stage, both in the UK and in Europe.

A title-winner in the British Talent Cup in 2021, the Irish youngster has since gone on to turn heads in the competitive European Talent Cup - the starting point for many of today’s leading MotoGP and Moto2 riders - with a run to third overall in his rookie campaign last year.

This weekend, however, will see O’Gorman make a big step in both size and power as he prepares to throw his leg over a Yamaha R6 at the challenging Cadwell Park circuit.

His chance comes a fortnight after stepping in for OMG rider Aaron Daykin in the Junior Superstock Championship at Thruxton, where he secured a front row start on his debut.

As a result, OMG have offered the reward of a BritishSSP start, an outing that will also mark the 2022 BSB Champion’s debut in the intermediate class.

“I’m looking forward to continuing with the team after a strong performance at Thruxton. We didn’t get the chance to show our true potential in the race, so I’m excited for a new challenge learning the Cadwell track and the Supersport bike!”

“Casey has something rare in the modern world of motorcycle racing – raw, natural talent,” Team Owner Alan Gardner added. “He’s a name I’ve followed for a while, and when the opportunity came to put him on the Junior Superstock R6 at Thruxton, it was one we couldn’t pass up.

“I’m genuinely excited to have him onboard for the rest of the season, and I think he’s going to upset more than a few big names with his results from the off.”
