Westmoreland takes charge in Supersport points table

Came Yamaha’s James Westmoreland took charge in the Dickes British Supersport points table at Knockhill, opening up a 22-point gap over Andy Reid as the Ulsterman had a weekend to forget in Scotland.

Westmoreland took a brace of podium in two wet races as Ben Currie and Tarran Mackenzie bagged a win each.

"I'm really pleased with the weekend considering the difficult conditions. I was really disappointed we didn't get a dry race in as my pace and feeling for the bike was really good,” said Westmoreland.

“I’m still really pleased to have left Knockhill with two podiums and a 22 point lead in the Championship. It was a job well done this weekend and a huge credit to the CAME BPT Yamaha team for working so hard for me to achieve these results."

Reid added: “All I can say is that Knockhill was a tough weekend for us. An electrical problem in Saturday’s race stopped me from scoring any points. In race two on Sunday we did score points in tough conditions when the main concern was staying upright and we finished eighth.

“Frustratingly we had good pace in the dry conditions but I feel as if we just lacked the ideal setting in the wet, but that’s Knockhill for you. I’ve made it home in one piece and am already preparing for Snetterton.”
