2015 British MotoGP venue to be decided next month

Silverstone and Donington Park will be locked in a battle over the next month to host the British MotoGP round for 2015 as the Circuit of Wales, which today signed a five-year deal to run the event, looks for a venue to rent while its facility is built.

Both the Northamptonshire and Leicestershire circuits will want to run the meeting but the choice, which MotoGP ringmaster Carmelo Ezpeleta wants made my September, will be down to who can provide a venue for the least cost to Circuit of Wales, which currently relies on Government grant aid as it searches for private investment.

"Yes, we are in discussions with both and we hope to have a conclusion by September. We are familiar with projects that sometimes take longer and so we had it in mind. We have a five-year agreement with the Circuit of Wales and this is just one year,” said Ezpeleta, speaking to bikesportnews.com at today’s CoW announcement.

While Silverstone's facilites are up to scratch, Donington is not far behind. Dorna's Javier Alonso has visited recently and said that only some small changes would have to be made with concerns only over the Foggy Esses. "These are quite small and I don't believe it would be a big problem," he told bikesportnews.com today.
