"A dream come true" for Jake Dixon at home Grand Prix

After a disappointing home Grand Prix last year Jake Dixon turned his fortunes around by winning the 2024 British Grand Prix.

Last year Jake Dixon's home race ended in the worst way possible as he crashed out in an incident with Darryn Binder. However, this weekend Dixon managed to right his wrongs from last year as he claimed victory in his home Grand Prix.

The 2024 British Grand Prix was the exact opposite to the 2023 British Grand Prix for Dixon. This year the 28-year-old qualified in fifth place and was part of the two man lead group with Aron Canet. After leaving it until the last lap Dixon passed Canet and claimed his third Grand Prix victory.

"A dream come true," Dixon said after the British Grand Prix. "Coming into the weekend you would not have thought that I would have been able to do it. I dreamt of it today, I was believing that I could do it and what a fantastic win."

Dixon's 2024 season started off poorly as he was unable to take part in the first two races of the season, in the following three races he failed to score a single point. After five races and no points Dixon turned his season around in Catalunya as he finished in third place and claimed a second podium three races later in Assen, where he finished second.

His win at Silverstone moves Dixon up to seventh in the Championship standings, and means he is the first British rider to win at home since Danny Kent won the Moto3 race in 2015.

"That is for all of the UK fans out there," Dixon stated after treating the British crowd to a home Grand Prix win. "They have a UK winner once again, and hopefully we can go on to win many more races now, I feel like I am on a roll. After the disappointment from last year to come here and win the BritishGP it is amazing, honestly I can't even put it into words."
