With Jorge Martin 24 points ahead of Francesco Bagnaia at the series finale the Italian has a lot of work to do in Barcelona.
Francesco Bagnaia could lose his MotoGP Championship crown this weekend in Barcelona. The Italian arrives at the Solidarity Grand Prix 24 points behind title rival, Jorge Martin.
Bagnaia has never been the chaser at the final round of the MotoGP Championship when he has been in contention for the title. In 2022 and 2023 the Ducati rider has been leading the standings, but this year is a different story.
"We are in a position where we know that gaining 24 points over my rival will be tough," Bagnaia admitted.
"Something extra has to happen but we are not here to cheat for that we have to wish for that. We need to win both races and hope that someone else will be in the mix."
Despite Bagnaia knowing that 'something extra' needs to happen for him to win the title, he refuses to 'cheat'. The most the two-time MotoGP World Champion will do is aid his fellow VR46 riders and bring them into the fight.
"The only thing that I will do is to give someone a tow during the sessions to make them faster," Bagnaia admitted. "I think Franky Morbidelli was fast here in May and I hope that Bezz will be fast. I really need someone extra, so let's wait and see."
