Avintia Ducati’s Loris Baz has admitted he needs more kilometres on his Desmosedici as he doesn’t have enough dry-weather pace to consistently challenge for big points scores.
The lanky Frenchman has shown good speed in the wet with two top-five finishes this season but believes he is lacking confidence to push when the track is dry as it will be at this weekend’s Valencia finale.
“The Valencia Grand Prix is very special, as it is the home race of my team and almost a second home race for me personally, because I used to live near the circuit. We did a good race in Malaysia, so we have to try our best to match or improve it at Valencia,” said Baz.
“But being realistic, I don’t have the pace in dry conditions, I need more kilometres on the bike and get more confidence. But I’ll do my best to finish the season in the best possible way and give my team something to cheer about. I don’t have big expectations, I just want to enjoy and try to improve my pace in the dry.”
