Bridgestone's motorsport boss Hiroshi Yamada has stated that MotoGP teams will have to develop their bikes around the company's tyres in order to get the best performance this season.
Because the company will only be providing two compounds of slick tyre for the entire season and won't be making changes to the specification as the season progresses, teams and riders will have to work around any problems.
"We have already worked with all of the current MotoGP manufacturers so we are familiar with the characteristics of their bikes, just as they are familiar with our tyres," said Yamada.
"Even from the early stages of the end of 2008 tests we received very positive feedback. Also, as our tyres are not developed during the season, the teams can develop their bikes to maximise their performance with our tyres."
As there is no tyre competition in MotoGP for the next three years, Bridgestone will not make specific tyres for individual tracks but the two compounds of slicks will operate over a much wider range of conditions.
"We will have to supply tyres for all the circuits we visit from only four front tyre specifications and six rear tyre specifications, so it is clear that there is a change of approach from when we faced tyre competition and we were always making new specifications," added Yamada.
"In determining our specifications we have to ensure our tyre range can cover all of the circuits, and all of the likely temperature conditions. This means the operating range of the individual tyre specifications is wider than we have seen previously."
