Marlboro Ducati's Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi on the Fiat Yamaha have blown the MotoGP field away at Brno today with the Aussie lapping just under a second faster the third-placed man Loris Capirossi.
Stoner, who is not a well boy, finished the second free practice session two-tenths ahead of Rossi who was, in turn, four tenths faster than Alex De Angelis in third until Capirossi parked his Rizla Suzuki ahead of the San Marinese rider in the last 30 seconds and then Shinya Nakano then demoted De Angelis another place.
The Doctor was some six-tenths behind Stoner until his very last laps, when he managed to pull back to a 1'57.410, compared to Stoner's 1'57.231.
Rossi led the way in free practice one this morning but only in the dying minutes as he knocked Stoner off the top of the timesheets with his last run of laps.
And the battle continued in free practice two with Rossi leading the way until 15 minutes of the session, when Stoner went out dropped in a 1'57.480 lap, three tenths faster than Rossi's first session time.
Stoner then dominated, cutting his time on every run and getting down to a 1'57.331 on his 13th lap with 20 minutes to go. It took Rossi until there were only 15 minutes left to break into the 1'57s laptimes and the best he could muster was a 1'57.858.
The Aussie then added insult to injury by dropping another tenth off his time with three minutes left to go. However, that wasn't the end of Rossi as his last lap saw a 1'57.410, so two-tenths was the finishing margin.
Nakano, who is testing the 2009 satellite RC212V, has been in the top five all day but it has been two session of misery for the Michelin runners who, until Colin Edwards popped in a lap good enough for seventh, were out of the top 10.
Britain's James Toseland managed a 13th place after being as high as ninth while a clearly still hurting Dani Pedrosa ended the session in second last.
