'Coming from a complicated year to starting in this way? It’s a great boost' - Morbidelli reflects on his Sepang Test

Gold & Goose

Franco Morbidelli and the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team 'worked amazingly' during the Sepang Test.

The start of the 2024 MotoGP season was a disaster for Franco Morbidelli. The Italian suffered severe injuries in preseason training and had to miss the entirety of preseason testing.

However, for the 2025 MotoGP season, Morbidelli has been able to take part in the Sepang Test. With a year of experience on the Ducati GP24 under his belt, he made the most of the three-day test.

The 30-year-old ended the three-day test fourth on the timesheets with a 1:56.948 as his best lap time. After the test, Morbidelli spoke very highly of his performance and his new Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team crew.

"I am very happy about these three days. The team has worked amazingly, and I worked amazingly with a new crew," Morbidelli told the media on Friday.

"It was the first three days that we worked together but we have a good understanding. It’s really positive, we will build from here.

"Moreover, it’s a good start for the team. Coming from a complicated year to starting in this way? It’s a great boost. I know we had Fabio’s issue on the first day, but on our side, it’s going well."

Morbidelli will be on a year-old Ducati for the 2025 MotoGP season as he is still on the Ducati GP24. Last year the year-old GP23s struggled throughout the season, but Morbidelli is hopeful that this season is different for the older Ducati models.

"Last year we were all expecting more from the GP23," he said.

"Actually, just Marc was able to pull it out. What we were all expecting did not happen. Let’s see what happens this year…

"We were quick, and that’s positive. Forget the heat and the fatigue, and the problems that come with the first long run of the year!"
