Ducati boss, Davide Tardozzi, has responded to theories that Ducati mechanics made a mistake with Marc Marquez's tyre pressure.
During the Thai Grand Prix race winner Marc Marquez suddenly dropped back from the lead into second place.
The reasoning behind his decision has been narrowed to tyre pressure rules, but it had been suggested that the factory Ducati mechanics had made a mistake when calculating Marquez's tyre pressure.
TNT Sports, Michael Laverty, presented this theory and questioned Ducati Lenovo Team Manager, Davide Tardozzi about it.
"Honestly, we have to download the data and see what happened," Tardozzi said. "Because we [suspected that Marc Marquez would be in front], but we don’t know exactly the numbers.
"I think that our engineers are always calculating very well the numbers of the temperature. But in the end we have to see the data, because speaking without knowing what happened is not good."
Tardozzi did admit that he was not expecting Marquez to abruptly drop back to second and at first he was very nervous.
"He slowed down in a strange way, because he could slow down in a different way," he said.
"But my heart was [at 200bpm]; but immediately, when in turn five he was behind Alex in a normal way, I understood [what was happening]."
He went on to state that Marquez's race craft and superiority stood out during the Thai Grand Prix due to the way that he dealt with the issues.
"In the end, he’s a clever guy," Tardozzi said. "He stayed behind Alex [Marquez] and didn’t push like he did in lap 23, when he made a huge gap in one split, half-a-second in one split.
"That means that Marc [Marquez] was really able to pull away since the beginning."
