Texas Tornado Colin Edwards will not return for the the Le Mans MotoGP round in two weeks' time after surgeons today said it needed time to recover as it is on its fourth break.
A replacement rider will be announced tomorrow, say his team, and the popular American will be back in action at Catalunya.
The NGM Forward CRT rider was nerfed off by Randy De Puniet's riderless Aprilia ART and he went down heavily on his left side, breaking the bone. He underwent a successful operation at the Insitituto Universitario Dexeus in Barcelona. The bone was broken in five pieces and required the insertion of a titanium plate with ten screws.
“Doctor Mir and his team have done a great job. They were the ones that took care of me the last time. The surgery was really quick. I’m feeling great, still a little dizzy from the anesthesia but feeling all right. They put a block on the side of my neck so its feeling a little numb. I’m here watching TV and tweeting. Just want to let everyone know I’m ok," said Edwards.
His Tweets have including asking for recommendations as to who should replace him at Le Mans, should he not ride. Favourites so far appear to be Damian Cudlin and Leon Haslam.
