Herve Poncharal insists that KTM's financial issues will not impact his Red Bull KTM Tech3 squad.
In recent weeks it has been revealed that KTM is in a critical financial situation. The Austrian company is in the middle of a restructuring plan to try to save itself from bankruptcy.
The restructuring process has led to many wondering about the future of KTM's MotoGP teams. Herve Poncharal discussed the situation for his Red Bull KTM Tech3 squad as his team will become the second factory team for KTM in 2025.
"For 2025 everything is confirmed," Poncharal told GPOne.com. "In Barcelona during the last GP, I had a meeting with Hubert Trunkenpolz, Pit Beirer and Carmelo Ezpeleta, there is a plan and it will be respected. From the information I have received, the Racing Department will not be touched by the Pierer Group's financial difficulties.
"Just a week ago, Alberto Giribuola and Manu Cazeauz, the crew chiefs of Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales, were in Austria. At Munderfing, and at the Racing Department everything is proceeding as usual. The usual winter preparation work is being done and bike assembly days have been confirmed for the end of the month. In short, they are working as usual."
Poncharal will have two new riders in his Tech3 garage in 2025 as both Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez have moved on.
MotoGP race winners, Enea Bastianini and Maverick Vinales will enter the Tech3 squad for 2025. Potentially giving Tech3 their strongest-ever MotoGP rider lineup, Poncharal went on to discuss his new rider's first test back in Barcelona.
"I am very happy with their first test," Poncharal said. "Enea [Bastianini] came from Ducati, there were a lot of expectations, and his sensations on the KTM were positive, like Maverick's [Vinales]."
