The 2021 MotoGP World Champion has been transported to the hospital for an MRI scan on his left shoulder.
Fabio Quartararo suffered a shoulder injury during the early stages of Friday afternoon Practice for the Italian Grand Prix, but he was able to return to the track.
After crashing Turn Four during Practice, the Frenchman was seen pointing at his left shoulder while lying in gravel. A marshal went on to apply pressure to his shoulder before Quartararo got back to his feet and went back to the paddock via scooter.
After being assessed by MotoGP Medical Chief, Dr Angel Charte, the 2021 MotoGP World Champion went back out on track on his Yamaha M1.
Despite the injury and the 15-minute turnaround time, Quartararo was able to end the day in fifth place on the timesheets and gained automatic passage to Q2 on Saturday.
However, after setting his best lap time of the day, the Frenchman was visibly in pain while on his way back to the pits.
According to Dorna’s Jack Appleyard, the Frenchman suffered a “partial dislocation of the left shoulder”, explaining his requests for trackside help.
Since the end of Practice, it has been reported by DAZN that Quartararo is being transported to the hospital for an MRI scan on his left shoulder.
