A first podium since 2023 has given Fabio Quartararo a 'nice boost' for the French Grand Prix this weekend.
Fabio Quartararo will be riding at home this weekend for the French Grand Prix at the iconic Le Mans circuit.
It has been a difficult few years at the French Grand Prix for Quartararo; in 2024, he failed to finish the Grand Prix, and could only manage seventh in 2023.
However, the 26-year-old has newfound form heading into his weekend's French Grand Prix. Quartararo had his best weekend in a few years at the Spanish Grand Prix last time out at the Circuito de Jerez.
He was able to secure his first pole position in MotoGP since the 2022 Indonesian Grand Prix, and then backed it up with a second-place finish in the Grand Prix, which was his first podium since Indonesia in 2023.
"I am so happy to have done a pole and a second place in Jerez before this round," Quartararo said.
"Le Mans is very special to me: it's my home GP, and there will be many fans cheering for me. It doesn't matter how many times I have experienced it; I still get goosebumps when they sing the national anthem on the starting grid.
"But we have to focus on the job in hand this weekend. The positive results during the race weekend and also at the Jerez Test were a nice boost for the team, and I am interested to see how the new engine spec performs in Le Mans. I'm excited to get started!"
Quartararo is now the top Yamaha in the MotoGP World Championship and is sixth in the standings. The Frenchman is 13 points behind Fabio di Giannantonio in fifth and will be targeting further good results at the French Grand Prix.
