A return to the podium for Francesco Bagnaia then led to a positive one-day test at MotorLand Aragon, where he was able to trial new items.
The Aragon Test was a big day for Francesco Bagnaia as he made a step on Sunday at the Aragon Grand Prix.
Bagnaia was able to make his way back onto the podium at MotorLand Aragon as he finished in third place behind the Marquez brothers.
The Italian rider then went on to complete 72 laps across the Aragon Test and was able to trial a new swingarm and a new fairing.
However, unlike his teammate, he is uncertain about the new parts and needs more time to test them before introducing them at Mugello.
"It was a long day because we needed to try the new fairing," Bagnaia stated when asked about his Aragon Test.
"It is true that it is helping in some areas, but it is worse in some others. We need to find a balance, maybe we will not take it for Mugello, we need more testing, but luckily there is a test in Barcelona with Michele [Pirro].
"Then I just tried a new swingarm, which was working quite well, but not in conditions like today, which was very grippy. It is difficult to make a decision today, but it was important to complete kilometers, and I am quite happy because I had a good feeling today.
"I was able to improve my lap time with used tyres, and it was a positive test."
There had been comments after the weekend and the test that 'the old Bagnaia is back'. However, the two-time MotoGP World Champion was quick to state, 'I am not back at my 100%'.
"Honestly, I feel good," he said when asked if the old Pecco is back.
"I am not back at my 100%, but I was able to brake in a strong way, I was able to be strong on corner entry, we need some more speed in that part, but we need more time.
"Luckily the next track is Mugello, where I know every little detail so maybe I can adapt quicker."
