HRC boss Shuhei 'McPhee' Nakamoto has stated that problems with the control Bridgestone tyre was the main reason his team failed to retain the MotoGP world championship in 2012.
Both Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa suffered with horrible chatter for most of the season and Nakamoto says the increased weight limit imposed on all MotoGP bikes last season did not sit well on the RC213V.
"We struggled to find a good setting, because the weight limit was increased, also, Bridgestone supplied tyres that did not fit onto our bikes" said Nakamoto.
He added that, even though Honda didn't do enough race distance simulations in winter testing, Pedrosa had to change his riding style to suit.
"He had problems with the weight transfer during acceleration and as of that, in the early part of the season, his title chance was compromised."
