'I always lose to the red bikes, but now I'm riding one' - Marc Marquez

Gold & Goose

Marc Marquez has his sights set on his first race win at the Red Bull Ring now that he is riding for the factory Ducati team.

During his MotoGP career, Marc Marquez has not been able to win at the Red Bull Ring as he has been beaten by Ducati at the Austrian Grand Prix on several occasions.

But this weekend, the Spaniard will focus on returning from the summer break 'in the best way possible' to regain his confidence.

"The summer break has been good as always, I had time to take a rest and prepare for the second part of the season," Marquez told MotoGP.com.

"My main target at the moment is to try and re-join the Championship in the best way possible. These will be important back-to-back races in Austria and Hungary, to take that confidence from."

Now that Marquez is on a Ducati himself, he believes that he will be in with a realistic chance of fighting for the victory.

"I have been super close for so many years here in Austria," he explained.

"I always lose against the red bikes with the amazing Andrea Dovizioso and amazing Jorge Lorenzo. But now I am riding that red bike, so let's see if we can fight for the victory."

Marquez has been mainly challenged by his younger brother, Alex Marquez, during the 2025 season. However, he has his focus on Francesco Bagnaia, as Alex has a long lap penalty for this weekend's Grand Prix.

"I am focussing more this weekend on Francesco Bagnaia," he revealed.

"He has won here for the last three years, so I believe he will be fast. He brakes super hard, and at this circuit, it is why he wins a lot, because the braking is super important.

"Alex Marquez has the long lap penalty, so it will be difficult for him. But if he beats us even with the long lap, it means he is in really good form."
