'I am a little bit frustrated' - Alex Marquez finishes runner-up in the Sprint Race

Gold & Goose

Alex Marquez remains second in the MotoGP World Championship as he finished second in the Sprint Race at the TT Circuit Assen.

For the ninth time this season, Alex Marquez finished runner-up in a MotoGP Sprint Race to his older brother.

The younger Marquez brother was not able to get passed the older Marquez brother as the factory Ducati rider held off the BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP rider.

Alex Marquez was faster than his brother in the third sector of the TT Circuit Assen, but was not able to find the space to pass his brother in the tight section of the circuit.

"I think we did a really good race," Marquez said after finishing second in the Sprint Race.

"Marc was struggling in sector three, and I was faster there, but to find a space there is difficult because it is really fast, and with the same bike, the differences are small.

"I was not able to find a space at that point to make the overtake. I am a little bit frustrated about that.

"But anyway, we showed our performance again, we showed our speed, we have good information for tomorrow, and we will keep looking forward to tomorrow."

Alex Marquez remains second in the MotoGP World Championship after nine Grand Prix races and ten Sprint Races.

However, he has now dropped three points further behind his brother, who continues to lead the standings.

The satellite Ducati rider is now 43 points behind the factory Ducati rider in the Championship.
