'I am confident that we can manage the situation' - Dall'Igna discusses Bagnaia vs Marquez and losing Pramac to Yamaha

Gold and Goose

Gigi Dall'Igna has discussed Ducati's superstar rider lineup and mega losses ahead of the 2025 MotoGP season.

It seems like the 2024 MotoGP title fight is being overshadowed by the prospect of a battle for the ages in 2025. This of course is the Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez battle, and partnership, in the Ducati factory team next season.

Ducati have the chance to have a combined 14 Rider World Championships across their two riders in 2025. However, with the success of the riders also comes winning expectations.

Bagnaia has been Ducati's golden boy for years and the arrival of Marquez is almost certainly going to upset the balance in the team. The Italian rider has previously stated that him and Marquez sharing a garage could be 'super good or a disaster'. This statement is something that Gigi Dall'Igna told MotoGP.com that he agrees with.

"I honestly agree with him," Dall'Igna said. "They are two of the best riders in the Championship but they are really strong characters. It is important that we manage them well across the next year, but honestly, I am quite confident that we can manage the situation. In the end, I hope it is not a disaster but instead the perfect year for Ducati."

'Overall, we will be weaker than this year' - Gigi Dall'Igna

Even though Ducati have gained Marquez in their factory team for 2025 they have also suffered significant losses.

Prima Pramac Ducati rider, Jorge Martin, is going to leave the Ducati fold to ride for Aprilia Racing. As well as Martin, VR46 rider, Marco Bezzecchi, will also depart Ducati for Aprilia Racing in 2025. Current factory Ducati rider, Enea Bastianini, has also jumped ship as he is heading for Tech3 KTM next season.

As well as losing these three superstar riders the Pramac squad have decided to leave Ducati as well. The Italian team will become the 'second factory team' at Yamaha leaving Ducati after 21 years.

"We are probably the first manufacturer to use the data from satellite teams to improve the bike. We will now have less opportunity to do this for the future. The other manufacturers have learnt that it is possible to do this and that is the reality. Overall, we will be weaker than this year because the number of riders will be less for next season. But on the other side for a factory team we will have the best ever riders in the history of Ducati."
