Lucio Cecchinello has described the French Grand Prix as a 'fantastic race' as LCR Honda returned to the top step of the podium.
The LCR Honda squad were the last Honda team to win a MotoGP race at the 2023 American Grand Prix. After 43 Grand Prix weekend's the team and Honda were victorious once again at the 2025 French Grand Prix.
The satellite Honda squad have stuck by the Japanese manufacturer through some difficult years, and their hard work has paid off. Johann Zarco took victory at his home Grand Prix in the sixth round of the 2025 MotoGP season.
After the race, Cecchinello spoke to the media and explained that he was 'living a dream.
"I am living a dream, honestly, I am living a dream," Cecchinello told TNT Sports.
"We did not expect such a result, he [Johann Zarco] did an amazing race, lapping one second faster than Marc Marquez. We were hoping that he would slow down because he had a 20-second margin.
"Anyway, we finished a fantastic race, and we will remember this race for the rest of our lives."
When credit was placed on Cecchinello for his hard work with the LCR Honda team, he was quick to divert the praise to his rider, team and Honda.
"It is the result from the hard work from everybody," he explained.
"The work of Zarco, the work of the team, the work of Honda, the work of the engineers at the track, the work of the HRC engineers in Japan, it is the result of everyone."
Zarco made the bold decision at the French Grand Prix to remain on wet tyres despite the ever-changing weather conditions.
This decision ended up being the 'perfect choice' for the 26-lap race around Le Mans.
"Honestly, speaking we have a couple of radar applications," Cecchinello said.
"One is a radar application that I use in aviation, I had seen and I told him, 'In 20 minutes there will be more rain'.
"So, we were pretty confident, and I believe because I showed him the radar, he was convinced to stay on the track with the rain tyre, which was the perfect choice."
