'I don't know where I found this pace' - Bastianini admitted after dominating the Sprint Race in Thailand

Enea Bastianini dominated the MotoGP Sprint Race in Thailand as he beat the main MotoGP title fighters.

Enea Bastianini had not won a MotoGP Sprint Race since the British Grand Prix in August. But on Saturday at the Thai Grand Prix, the Italian rider dominated the Sprint Race and beat the Championship favourites.

The #23 had qualified in second place on the grid in the middle of the front row. It could have been assumed that Bastianini would protect his title-fighting teammate who started from pole. However, Bastianini hit the front on the exit of the first corner and never looked back.

"I don't know where I found this pace," Bastianini stated. "But I arrived with this pace and we stayed positive to be leading the group from the first lap. After the start, it was simple to be faster, well at the start I pushed for the first three or four laps on the limit. In the end it was the correct choice because I won the race. It was super nice and I am happy to be back."

'I have no clue what was happening behind me because I don't have eyes in the back of my head.'

All eyes are now understandably on Bastianini for Sunday's Thai Grand Prix. But 'The Beast' explained that the race on Sunday will be different compared to the Sprint Race on Saturday. The main issue for Bastianini is that he does not know what tyres to run during the Grand Prix.

"The race tomorrow will probably be a bit different," Bastianini admitted. "Because we have to understand the tyre choice, with the soft we are on the limit, but I was on the limit with the front as well. We have to check if we can try the harder tyre tomorrow morning, it is not easy because maybe zero riders have tried that tyre. But let's see."

Finally, Bastianini was asked about the strengths of his rivals behind him. But the Italian admitted he has no idea where Bagnaia and Martin are strong as he does not have eyes in the back of his head.

Bastianini said: "It is a good fight for everybody, for me, for Pecco (Bagnaia), for (Jorge) Martin, every time we are very close together. I have no clue what was happening behind me because I don't have eyes in the back of my head. But I will have to watch the race again later to gather some information for tomorrow."
