Marc Marquez witnessed his brother crash from the lead and went on to control the remainder of the Catalan Sprint Race.
In the Sprint Race at the Catalan Grand Prix, Marc Marquez claimed his 14th Sprint victory of the 2025 MotoGP season.
The Spanish rider had spent the majority of the Sprint in second place and was a second behind his brother, Alex Marquez, who was leading the way.
However, on the ninth lap of the Sprint, Alex Marquez crashed out of the lead, and Marc inherited first place.
The eight-time World Champion was able to hold and control his lead at the Circuit de Barcelona - Catalunya, and crossed the line to claim a 14th Sprint victory.
"I am happy with my victory for Ducati, and the Ducati Lenovo Team," Marquez said after the Sprint Race.
"Unfortunately, Alex crashed. I had already given up, because he was faster than me. When I gave up, maybe he relaxed too much, and then he crashed at Turn 10. But he will have another chance tomorrow, because he has the best pace.
"Anyway, we are happy. In a circuit where we are struggling and are on the limit, we had some moments on my left elbow. But we are here on the podium."
With his brother scoring no points, and Marc collecting all 12 points on Saturday, the eight-time World Champion now has an 187 point lead in the MotoGP standings, and at the moment could secure the title next weekend at Misano.
