Pedro Acosta was back on the podium after crashing out of the podium battle in the Sprint Race on Saturday.
After crashing out of the Sprint Race on Saturday, Pedro Acosta was able to stand on the podium at the end of the Grand Prix in Indonesia.
The Spaniard claimed his third Grand Prix podium of the year, but was not able to challenge for the win at the Mandalika International Street Circuit due to issues with the front tyre pressure.
"We tried to make everything perfect, we had a good start, good first laps, the rhythm was not super fast," Acosta told MotoGP.com after standing on the podium.
"But, I was managing the front tyre pressure from the first moments. But it was not easy to be inside the range for this, so I let [Alex] Rins pass me to try and raise it. It worked, but it took a lot of time.
"We will try to be more competitive next time."
The Spaniard was able to get off the line quickly as he jumped from the second row to the lead at the first corner of the Grand Prix.
"Maybe, in Motegi, coming from fourth to second was a great start," he stated.
"I know last year I was struggling a lot to attack at the first corner. But it was nice to arrive there today, and all the track was for me. Anyway, we still need to play a bit and become more complete and more perfect."
Acosta witnessed his long-time rival, Fermin Aldeguer, claim his first MotoGP victory, but Acosta is still searching for his.
However, the 21-year-old claims he is not thinking about winning, but is instead trying to become a better rider.
"Now, I am not thinking about winning," he explained.
"I am just trying to become a better rider. I know it is not going to be easy, it is true that the KTM is improving. Now we are constantly fighting for podiums, or more or less inside the top five, which is what I wanted after the summer break.
"But it is clear that we are still one step behind. Now, I am trying to become a better rider, be more complete, make less mistakes, and be more complete."
