'It feels like I've lost all ability to ride a motorbike' - Jake Dixon reflects on a difficult Italian Grand Prix

Jake Dixon's poor run of form continued at the Italian Grand Prix as he finished outside of the points in 17th place.

The Italian Grand Prix continued a difficult run of form for Jake Dixon and the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team.

Dixon has not featured inside the top ten in the last three Grands Prix, and has not stood on the podium since his race win at the Grand Prix of the Americas.

Mugello is a circuit that Dixon has had success at in the past, when he featured on the podium at the track in 2023.

However, after a promising start to his weekend when he finished second in Free Practice One, things took a turn for the worse on Saturday when he qualified in 14th after a messy Qualifying session.

Ahead of the race, hopes were still high for Dixon as his race pace on Friday had appeared to be strong. But at the end of the 19-lap Moto2 Grand Prix, the 29-year-old finished the race outside of the points in 17th place.

"That was a terrible race. I don’t really know what to say," Dixon said after the Italian Grand Prix.

"I have zero feeling right now. Unfortunately, I just wasn’t there. I couldn’t ride fast today and it feels like I’ve lost all ability to ride a motorbike.

"I like Mugello and have finished on the podium here before. Yet I couldn’t even get inside the top 15 today. I don’t know what to do.

"But yeah, I’m really looking forward to going home now and resetting. That will be important because Assen is a track that I like a lot. Hopefully we can get some feeling and confidence back and aim to fight inside the top ten there. That’s all we can do right now."

After nine rounds of the 2025 season, Dixon finds himself fifth in the Moto2 World Championship and is 58 points behind Manuel Gonzalez, who sits at the top of the standings.
