Marc Marquez has claimed his third MotoGP pole position at Mugello and his 100th career pole position.
For the sixth time this season, Marc Marquez has claimed pole position and secured his 100th pole position across all Grand Prix classes.
The factory Ducati rider was able to set a new all-time lap record around Mugello on his way to pole and was able to secure P1 on the grid after utilising the long left-hand turn at the end of the lap.
"It was an incredible lap, but especially an incredible last sector," Marquez told TNT Sports.
"It is the only long left corner here, so I try to take profit. Turn three is where I am struggling, because it is on the right side.
"But they [Francesco Bagnaia and Alex Marquez] are super fast. But this is a circuit where they are historically faster than me, and at the moment we are there.
"I am on pole, so I am a bit faster over one lap, but we are in very poor condition for the race pace, so we need to understand where we are this afternoon.
"If there are twenty degrees more track temperature, I will need a different riding style, and even a different setup, maybe. It is then when we need to understand what we can do."
Marquez was asked who his main rivals are for the Sprint and main race at Mugello, the eight-time World Champion has identified his younger brother and his teammate as his main rivals.
"Both of them," he stated.
"Both of them are super fast at the moment. On paper, it looks like Alex has a bit more pace than Pecco, but Pecco is fast at Mugello, so he will be fast in the Sprint and the main race.
"With the Italian fans pushing him, they will give him an extra push."
