'It was ridiculous' - Jake Dixon describes a chaotic German Grand Prix

Gold & Goose

A first podium since the Grand Prix of the Americas is a positive step for Jake Dixon, but the British rider had to work hard for it.

Although Jake Dixon has walked away with the Sachsenring with a podium to his name, he believes more was on offer this weekend.

The British rider started the Moto2 Grand Prix from pole position, but his race was derailed immediately when Senna Agius jumped the start and made contact with him at Turn One.

"I did not even know he [Senna Agius] had jumped the start, I just thought he had got a great start," Dixon told TNT Sports.

"I thought that I was good and that I was into Turn One, because I had outbraked him, so I thought I could run round the outside of him.

"Unfortunately, he just smashed into me and t-boned me. But I don't know what his thinking was behind the whole thing, really.

"It is what it is. I tried to move on from that moment, and then halfway through the race, I got another love tap."

After regaining his rhythm and running in third place, Dixon was later hit by Diogo Moreira, who crashed out of the race moments later.

He added: "I don't know what his [Diogo Moreira] thinking was there, either to be fair. He was not anywhere close to being able to attempt a move there.

"Then, when he came back on the track, I don't really know what to say about that. It was ridiculous.

"Being desperate gets you nowhere in this sport, I know that from previous mistakes that I have made. I feel like some of these riders in this class try to ride on desperation sometimes.

"If they actually just took a step back, they would be much better off for it."

Dixon remains in fourth place in the Moto2 World Championship, and has two race wins and a further podium to his name after 11 race weekends.
