Marc Marquez will return to the Automotodrom Brno for the first time in six years this weekend as the Czech Grand Prix returns to the calendar.
This weekend, the Automotodrom Brno returns to the MotoGP calendar for the first time since the 2020 season.
However, Marc Marquez has not ridden at the circuit since 2019 as he missed the 2020 Czech Republic Grand Prix due to the injuries that he sustained in the season opener.
After six years away from the circuit, Marquez believes that it may take him a bit of time to get back up to speed, but expects to be on the pace after the first Free Practice session on Friday morning.
"Some manufacturers tested here two or three weeks ago, and it looks like they went two or three seconds faster," Marquez told MotoGP.com.
"So, it is not a new track, but with the new asphalt and the years that we did not ride here, it could take a little bit more time.
"But I believe at the end of Free Practice One we will be at the correct times and on the correct lines."
After winning the last four Grand Prix in a row, Marquez was asked about his expectations for his return to the Czech Republic.
Despite the drastic differences between the Sachsenring and Brno, the eight-time World Champion has the same high expectations for himself as he does every race week.
"Same as usual," he explained.
"We are coming from a track that is completely different, from a small layout and low grip, to a big layout with a lot of grip. So, let's see what we can do."
Marquez is the 2025 MotoGP World Championship leader ahead of the start of the second half of the season. After 11 race weekends, Marquez has accumulated 344 points and has an 83-point lead over his brother, Alex Marquez.
