Francesco Bagnaia had a disappointing weekend at Mugello as he finished in fourth at the Italian Grand Prix.
The Italian Grand Prix was supposed to be a turning point for Francesco Bagnaia after a positive Aragon Test.
However, once again, the Italian struggled with front-end feeling after six or seven laps, and could not bring the fight to Marc and Alex Marquez around Mugello.
Bagnaia could not even claim a podium position, as in the latter laps he slipped back to fourth place at his home Grand Prix.
"I tried my maximum," Bagnaia told MotoGP.com after the Italian Grand Prix.
"I gave my maximum to try and at least fight for this win. But after six or seven laps, I needed to slow down because I felt a drop off on the front.
"I was understeering everywhere, and I was just trying to control it. I tried to close the gap to Alex, but every time I got the gap down, I started to understeer a lot.
"The front end was not helping me, like all the rest of the season. It is the same situation as always; we are not able to understand what to do, and we need to do something different.
"The situation is always the same, and we are not making great progress. Little progress, but it is not helping so we need to do something."
Bagnaia knows that he can still fight for race wins and is determined to search for solutions to turn his race results around.
"I know my potential, I know I am able to fight for a win," he stated.
"It has always been like this. I am a fast rider, and finishing every race like this, watching them is not my objective.
"I want to change these results as quickly as possible, because I don't want to continue watching them racing, and being stuck behind."
After nine rounds, Bagnaia is still fourth in the MotoGP World Championship, but he is 110 points behind his teammate in the standings.
