Jake Dixon admits to feeling mixed emotions with his run to third in the German Moto2 at the Sachsenring with the joy of notching up another podium tempered by him just missing out on a career-best second.
The Briton is enjoying a rich vein of form at the moment with his Mugello and Sachsenring success ensuring back-to-back podiums, to bring his season tally to three
Much as he did in Italy, the GasGas Aspar rider bounced back from a tardy start off the front row that dropped him to fifth initially by working his way back up to third.
Hunting down championship leader Tony Arbolino up ahead, though Dixon got onto the rear wheel of the Marc VDS rider, he couldn’t find a way through before the chequered flag for what would have marked a career-best second place finish.

Though frustrated to be third again, it’s a result that has launched him from seventh to fourth in the overall standings, with Alonso Lopez just three points adrift in third.
“A massive step. I was 11th here last year. Frustrating to be 3rd again though. I tried a lot to comeback and I know I can find a bit more but on that last lap I had zero grip.
“There were not many prime places to pass and I made mistakes trying to have a go at second.”
With the Dutch Moto2 coming up this weekend as the third of MotoGP’s triple-headers, Dixon is confident the familiar Assen circuit will be the perfect place to break that duck.
“I gave everything. I wasn’t quite strong enough for the win and Assen could be perfect time to pounce before going into the summer break.”
