Jake Dixon secured another third place finish in the Moto2 class at the Italina Grand Prix this weekend allowing him to score more valuable Championship points.
Jake Dixon's 2023 season has started well with two podiums in the first six races, the best start to a Moto2 season that Dixon has ever had.
The British rider stood on the podium for the eighth time in Moto2 after his third place finish at Mugello on the weekend. This result has solidified Dixon's sixth place in the standings and has put him eight points behind third place in the Championship.
“The start of the races is always difficult for me. In practice I don't have any problems, but in the races, I start with a slower pace than the others." Dixon explained his confusion about his race starts.
"I have dropped to ninth position, but there has been an incident in front of me and I have managed to move up and overtake Canet on the last lap.
"If I want to be in the fight for the championship, I must continue on this path. This was one of the tracks where I was going to suffer the most, so finishing third is very positive.”
With his confidence high Dixon is heading to the Sachsenring and Assen for two races where he will be looking for similar results that he has claimed throughout the start of the season.
It will be important to Dixon to do well in the next two rounds before the summer break. As after the break he will be thrown straight into his home Grand Prix at Silverstone, where last year he finished 3rd place.
Last year at the Sachsenring Dixon finished down in 11th place, but bounced back in Assen with a third place finish. So a good result could be on the cards for Dixon in the Netherlands.
