Johann Zarco claimed a 'magic' podium at the British Grand Prix

Gold & Goose

Back-to-back podiums for Johann Zarco were a 'really important' result for the Frenchman and Honda.

Two weeks after winning the French Grand Prix with LCR Honda, Johann Zarco was back on the rostrum at the British Grand Prix.

The French rider finished in second place at the Silverstone Circuit and became Honda's first back-to-back podium finisher since Marc Marquez in 2021.

"It was magic," Zarco said when he was asked to describe his British Grand Prix.

"Overall, it was good that we had a second chance at the start, because from the first start, I was not feeling comfortable.

"I switched my mindset for the second start, and I gained positions in the first four corners. I could see that I had a good feeling with the front tyre, and the soft tyre gave me confidence at the beginning.

"I was able to gain positions, and Jack [Miller] was strong at the beginning, so I was able to overtake other riders with him. Bezzecchi was also very fast, like yesterday, I tried to stay with him as long as possible, but lap after lap, he was a bit faster.

"I was already on the podium, but then Fabio Quartararo had a technical problem. I did think that a victory could have been possible, but Bezz was too constant.

"To keep the gap to the Ducatis behind me was a very good moment, because I did not think I would be able to keep the gap.

"Keeping my focus and not making a mistake has been really important today."

A wet win for Honda could have been put down as a result that occurred due to the weather, but a dry podium proved that the RC213V is an improving package.

"It means a lot," he said when asked what a dry podium means for himself and Honda.

"Two podiums in a row is huge for me, it is a confirmation of a good motivation and fighting spirit. For Honda, we still think a few things are missing, but when conditions change, we adapt quite quickly.

"I have shown that the bike is safe enough to fight with the others and get this podium, so I think it is pretty important.

"I am happy because it is points for me, points for Honda, points for the team, we needed this and we have taken it."
