Johann Zarco is 'very satisfied' with Honda's performance in Thailand

Johann Zarco and LCR Honda were battling inside the top ten at the Thai Grand Prix.

Honda has made a step in between the 2024 and 2025 MotoGP seasons and Johann Zarco's performances in Thailand were a prime example of the improvements made.

The Frenchman finished just outside of the points in the Sprint Race as he crossed the line in tenth, one place behind Honda HRC Castrol rider, Joan Mir.

After deciding to use different tyre's in Sunday's Grand Prix, the LCR Honda rider was once again fighting in the top ten. The 34-year-old ended up finishing in seventh, but had the potential to fight with Marco Bezzecchi for sixth.

Zarco was Honda's top rider in 2024 and looks like he will continue to make progress with the improved RC213V.

"After yesterday's sprint, I decided to use a different tyre after a lot of consideration," Zarco said.

"Unlike most drivers, I chose the medium compound instead of a soft rubber today. The race actually went exactly as I had imagined.

"I had a lot of trouble in the first 10 laps. It was at the limit, I could only just stay in the top 10. But I had strong hopes that the point would come when the game would change in my favor.

"The point had not yet come halfway through the race and I had already fought hard, and then ten laps before the end it happened: I was able to attack again.

"At first it took a while before I could catch Miller. Jack is extremely good on the brakes, a real challenge. But with the better lines it worked out.

"I was then able to completely close the gap to Marco, attacking him would have been too risky and the result was very valuable anyway.

"We are moving forward. Now we have to direct the improvement to the first big section of a race. I am very satisfied because you can do so much wrong in these conditions, and we felt and decided the right thing."
